Abstract

The primary aim of this paper is introducing the work of building ‘eomi’(the ending of verb in Korean) corpora which are to be used for Korean language education. What we do in this paper are as follows. Firstly, we argue that recent texts should be chosen and a balance corpora should be used as a raw corpus for the work. Secondly, we explain the work that we have built a corpus of ‘eomi’ morphs(the 1st corpus) from a raw corpus for ‘eomi’ items which is presented in the grammatical explanations of the textbooks of Korea University, Seoul National University, Yeonsei University and other related ‘eomi’ items. Thirdly, we explain the work that we have extracted the forty ‘eomi’ items of high frequency and then have built corpora in which they are differentiated by semantic, syntactic functions(the 2nd corpus). Fourthly, I explain what significance our work has and how it can be used practically in Korean language education.
