The Progress of the Object Markers in Japanese Potential Sentences : Focused on literary work after the Meiji period

The purpose of this study is to investigate the progress of the object case-marker“ga” and “o” after the Meiji period。First、I choose the transitive verb in potential sentences of “potential verb” “reruㆍrareru” and “dekiru” that had been used in the selected fourteen works、 andcounted the object case-marker “ga” and “o”. And then I analyzed the expectivevalue’s deviation that were calculated by the incidence rate and the expected valueof the total usage rate。The research indicated that there was a gradual increase in the usage rate of“o”, especially I can verified the growth of “o” in potential sentences of “reruㆍrareru”.
