초록

The export market of aquatic products met the flow of global trade liberalization and continued to grow , ultimately contributing to the economic growth of korea. However, due to the promotion policies of aquatic products exports in China and more stronger competitiveness in major export markets, the trade deficit in Korea has been increasing year by year since imports increased in 2001. Hence, this paper analyzes the international competitiveness and potential of aquatic products in Korea and China and presents the purpose of the study mainly based on the export strategies for other countries. Firstly, in order to present international competitiveness of aquatic products exports in Korea and China, revealed comparative advantage index(RCA) has been applied. The analysis shows that the international competitiveness in China is moderate(average RCA 0.87), whereas the international competitiveness in Korea is relatively weak with a slightly upward trend(average RCA 0.53). Moreover, in order to analyze trading pattern for aquatic products(HS03 class) in Korea and China and export potential for other countries based on empirical analysis, a gravity model has been drawn out by variables like GDP, domestic market size(population) and distance. From the analysis in Korea, it can be known that countries like New Zealand, Thailand, Japan, and Spain are over trade whereas Brazil, UK, and central Asian countries are in lack of trade. The strategies forwards countries(which is over, balance or lack of trade) of export is shown in the conclusion.
