초등 시교육에서 ‘감각적 표현’ 교수⋅학습의 개선 방향

본 연구는 초등학교 시교육에서 이루어지고 있는 ‘감각적 표현’ 교수·학습의 쟁점을 검토하고 그 개선 방향을 탐색하는 것이다. ‘감각적 표현’은 국어과교육과정 문학 영역에서 꾸준히 학습 요소로 기능해 왔다. 특히 초등 시교육에서는 이미지 교육을 위한 기초적인 개념으로서 시 텍스트에서 물리적으로 나타난 특정 표현을 확인하고, 그 표현이 주는 효과를 탐색하는 방향으로 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 이는 이미지의 본질을 탐색하게 하기보다는 감각적 세부 묘사(sensory detail) 즉 이미저리(imagery)에 주목하게 함으로써, 시 텍스트에 형상화된 이미지를 추체험하거나 개별 독자의 다양한 체험과 느낌을 반영하지 못하는 문제를 발생시켰다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 이미지와 관련된 담론을 기반으로 ‘감각적 표현’의 역할을 재검토하고, 대안적 학습 활동을 제시하였다. ‘감각적 표현’은 주체와 이미지를 연결하는 언어 도구로써 시를 감상하는 독자의 의미 부여에 관여한다. 이미저리로서 ‘감각적 표현’은 시적 주체가 형상화한 이미지를 파악하도록 유도하는 매개체인 것이다. 학습 독자는 시어를 읽고 대상을 확인하는 차원을넘어서 해당 시어를 통해 전달하고자 하는 주체의 느낌과 정서에 주목해야 한다. 따라서 음성상징 표현을 찾아보거나, ‘감각적 표현’이 ‘생생하다’는 관념적 접근은 수정될필요가 있다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 ‘감각적 표현’과 느낌 연결짓기, 느낌의 낙차 발견하기를 제안하였다.
Abstract
The goal of this study is to review the problem of learning experience of ‘sensory expression’, which is continuously dealt with in elementary school education, and to explore the direction of improvement. ‘Sensory expression’ has consistently functioned as a learning element in the field of Korean language curriculum literature.In particular, elementary school education has been conducted in the direction of identifying specific expressions physically appearing in poetry texts as a basic concept for image education and exploring the effects of those expressions. However, this caused a problem that did not reflect the various experiences and feelings of readers experiencing poetry by paying attention to detailed description (sensory detail), that is, image, rather than exploring the nature of the image. In order to solve this problem, the role of ‘sensory expression’ was reviewed based on discourse related to images, and alternative learning activities were presented, ‘Sensory expression’ is a tool that connects the subject and images and is involved in giving meaning to images and images. When the external appearance at the linguistic level and the implications of the personal level are combined and understood, the image embodied in the poem can be grasped. In other words, even if it is an obvious object, when given a situation in which the learning reader is not forced to choose the meaning, the image embodied in the poem can be newly faced. The goal of learning should be whether a new feeling about the object has occurred, not whether the poetic object looks vivid to the learner who will read the poem. This is possible by searching for a specific image revealed by a poetic speaker and dreaming about how it is handled within. Based on this, image education activities using ‘sensory expression’ were proposed.
