이효석 문학의 연속성과 시문학의 근대적 특질

본고는 이효석의 시를 대상으로 이효석 문학의 연속성을 고구해 보았다. 통상 이효석의 문학은 두 기로 나누어 전기는 동반자 작가로서 경향적 소설을 쓴 시기이고, 후기는 이로부터 전향하여 탐미주의적인 소설을 쓴 시기로 보고 있다. 이러한 단절론적 시각은 이효석의 후기 문학에서 노정하고 있는 성과 자연과 이국취향을 단순히 도피적 경향으로 파악하는 것으로 귀결된다. 이처럼 기존 연구는 이효석의 문학을 총체적으로 바라보지 못하고 그의 문학을 편협하게 축소한다. 이러한 문제의식을 가지고 본고는 이효석의 후기 문학의 도피적 경향이 이미 초기 시세계에서 발견되는 지속성임을 밝혔다. 특히 이러한 자질은 1920, 30년대 한국 시의 흐름 속에서 파악되는 자기회복의 근대적 인식이라는 점을 확인하였다. 그래서 이효석의 문학이 펼치는 에로티시즘은 보편적 주체를 인식한 자기회복의 리얼리티이며, 자연은 근대 도시의 사회적 환타지를 기의로 하는 개인의 욕망을 표출한 것이며, 이국취향은 생활의 기호와 취미 속에서 추구한 보편적 정서라 할 수 있다. 이 모든 자질은 이효석의 문학 세계에서 단순히 현실을 도피하려는 낭만적 취향이 아니라 현실 경험을 통한 자기회복의 근대적 서정이라는 측면에서 연속성을 갖는다.
Abstract
This study is intended to overcome the Discontinuity of the literature of Lee Hyo Seok and to present a clue of the continuity through the poetry of Lee Hyo Seok. Therefore, lyricism contained in the literature of Lee, Hyo-Seok was considered as the characteristic of the literature of Lee Hyo Seok in the Korean literature history not the naturalism originated by the western influence or the tendency of escaping from the colony reality. It is discussed that the novel literature of Lee Hyo Seok was changed to the aestheticism or exotic atmosphere from the proneness of the early period. But, whatever it was the active participation, deviation or acceptance about the pro literature, the point is that the early literature world of Lee Hyo Seok has been denied or criticized compared to the late literature. Accordingly, this study indicated that the continuity of the literature of proneness was absorbed in his poetry by considering the poetry of Lee Hyo Seok in the relation with the poetry-literature of 1920’s not in the relation with the proneness which prescribed the early literature of proneness.
