해방공간은 서로 다른 지배 체제와 권력의지의 배타적 대립과 충돌의 혼란상을 극명하게 드러낸다. 해방공간은 얄타회담(1945,2)에서부터 가시화된 미, 소 군정에 입각한 분단을 기반으로 하면서 좌익, 우익, 중도 좌익, 중도 우익 세력이 서로 혼전을 벌인다. 특히, 이들은 친일파 처단, 토지제도 개혁, 모스크바 3상회의 이후 신탁과 반탁, 정부수립 등을 두고 견해 차이를 보이면서 정국의 혼란을 증폭시킨다. 이념적 반목과 대립의 혼전이 심할수록 현실 속(時)에서 “진리”(道)의 구현을 견지하는 시중지도(時中之道)의 길 찾기는 더욱 중요하고도 어렵다. 설정식의 해방 공간에서의 첫 번째 이념 선택은 우익진영에 합류하는 것이었다. 그는 미군정청 고위관리로 나아간다. 그러나 미군정의 제국주의적 본성에 실망하게 되면서 조선공산당 입당으로 선회한다. 그러나 점차 남한에서의 공산주의 활동은 금기시 된다. 이때 그는 좌익 인사 교화 및 전향을 목적으로 하는 보도연맹에 들어가게 된다. 6.25전쟁이 일어나면서 다시 인민군으로 자원 입대하고 더 나아가 월북을 감행한다. 그러나 북한에서 그는 1953년 ‘인민공화국정권 전복음모와 반국가적 간첩테러 및 선전선동행위’를 했다는 죄명으로 사형에 처하게 된다. 이념 과잉 시대에 그의 문학적 삶의 경로는 북한 정권의 전쟁 실패의 책임을 전가하기 위한 남로당계 숙청 과정의 희생양이 되는 것이었다. 그의 이러한 시적 삶은 배반의 희망으로 다가온 해방에 대한 회한과 해방 공간의 혼돈 속에서 이념적 관조, 선택, 신념으로 이어지는 일련의 과정이 중심을 이룬다. 특히 이것은 그의 시 세계에서 “태양”과 “해바라기”의 역동적 도상을 중심으로 구상화 되고 있다. “팔월 태양”, “또 하나의 다른 태양”, “붉은 사상의 태양”으로 변주되는 이미저리는 각각 회복된 국권, 미군정, 조선공산당을 표상하는 것으로 해석된다. 그리고 이에 대응하는 “해바라기”는 각각 실천, 대결, 신념의 양상을 드러낸다. 이 논문은 이러한 문제의식 속에서 설정식의 해방공간의 이념적 선택의 도상학을 살펴본다.
Abstract
The liberation space obviously reveals the exclusive conflict of will to power, opposing system and confusion of collision. It started fighting left-wing, right-wing, centre-left and centre-right with division which was based on the military government of United States and Soviet Union visualized from the Yalta Conference(1945,2) Especially, they amplified the political confusion with difference of opinion on the punishment of pro-Japanese group, the reform of land system, the trust and distrust after Moscow meeting The more the confusion of collision and ideological antagonism is severe, the more difficult and important to find the way that sticks to realize "truth" in reality. which camp do you think is the line to realize the right spirit of the liberation time in the ideological maelstrom of political situation?Seol Jung-Sik's first ideological choice in liberation space was to join the right-wing. He went into a high-ranking official of US army military government in Korea. But, after he was disappointed with the imperialistic nature of US army military government, he changed into North Korean communist party. When it was not allowed to doing Communist activities in South Korea, he joined coverage federation which aims to enlighten left-wing and turn them into right-wing. He volunteered for North Korean People's Army while during the Korean War and carried out defection to North Korea. But he was executed as the name of crime which he had 'a plot to overthrow Democratic People's Republic of Korea, instigated an antinational spy and propaganda act' in 1953. His literary life in plethora of ideology was a scapegoat to shift the responsibility that North Korean government failed the War. His poetic life was centered in ideological contemplation, choice, belief in the remorse of liberation approaching as the hope of betrayal and the confusion of liberation space. Especially, it has been exteriorized with dynamic iconography of "sun" and "sunflower" in his poetic world. The imagery which is represented as "sun in August", "another different sun" and "sun of red ideas" is meant as recovered national sovereignty, US army military government and North Korean communist party. And "sunflower" which confronts them shows the aspects of action, confrontation, belief. This thesis looks at iconology of ideological choice in liberation space with this critical mind
