1950년대 소년잡지에 나타난 문학 창작교육과 의의 -'새벗'과 '소년세계'를 중심으로

Abstract

This article has as its subjects the letters to the editor in the children’s magazine of “Saebeot” and “SoNeon-Saege” and the works published in literature competitions and also the contemporaries’ selection and evaluation in the 1950’s to analyze the education for children’s literature creation and explore its significance. In the 1950’s, the education of literature creation secured its concreteness with supplementary readers like “Boys’ Literary Readers” or “Secondary Writings” or readers for writing for the elementary school/middle school Korean subject and literary competitions or letters to the editor centering around children’s magazines rather than government-designated textbooks. Letters to the editor in the magazines, works selected in literary competitions, and the writers’ selection and evaluation influenced the time’s education of student's literature creation significantly. Grounded on such perspective, this study drew the following norms mainly with the writers’ selection and evaluation published in the representative children magazines in the 1950’s. First, the primary goal of the education of literature creation is to let children have observation, sensitivity, and a truthful view to world in their daily lives. Second, the secondary goal of the education of literature creation is to provide the standard frame of writing education for children through retaining legitimate standards and formal conditions by genres in general. As what is written above, in the 1950’s, the education of literature creation was developed as focusing on thinking ability, writing sentences, or rhetorical expression. Furthermore, the contemporaries taught students to practice the processes of ‘brainstorming’, ‘expressing with writing’, or ‘editing’ repetitively first for good writing, which shows the direction of writing education for today as well.
