Abstract

Given that the effects of globalization have been detected in every corner of modern life, this paper aims to examine the ways in which christian universities in Korea react to and cope with this phenomenon. With this aim in mind, this paper contends that informal institutionalization actively embracing Christian norms, values and belief system, is necessary for existing christian universities in Korea. It is only through the consolidation of this control belief that the governance of christian universities' education can genuinely befit the original intension of establishment. In addition, since institutionalism falls short of providing actual methods of embedding control belief in the ongoing institutionalization of college education coping with globalization, some of the social constructivist assumption is borrowed to refine the whole argument. Consequently, this argument paves the way for the subsequent studies dealing with the subject of globalization and christian universities by providing a theoretical and methodological perspective.
