시대의 변화와 사회의 요청에 부응하면서도 개신교 종립대학의 특성과 현실을 반영한 종교교육의 정체성은 무엇인가? 본 연구는 지식 지형의 변화, 종교 지형의 변화, 삶의 의미 질문이 요청한 종교교육의 필요성에서 출발하여 개신교 종립대학 종교교육의 정체성을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 첫째, 탈종교화 현상과 그로 인한 종교 간 갈등 양상의 변화를 중심으로 종교 지형의 변화를 고찰한다. 둘째, 종교 문맹과 종교 혐오를 극복하기 위한 시민교육으로서의 종교교육의 필요성과 종교 문해력 교육을 논의한다. 셋째, 삶의 의미 질문에 대한 성찰로서의 ‘종교적인 것의 교육’의 의의와 한계를 논의한다. 마지막으로, 호교론적 교육과 교양교육 사이에 놓여있는 종립대학 종교교육이 교양교육이 되기 위한 대안으로 상호종교교육을 제안한다.
Abstract
What is the identity of religious education that reflects the characteristics and reality of Christian universities while responding to the changing times and the demands of society? This study seeks to explore the identity of religious education in Christian universities, starting from the need for religious education requested by changes in the knowledge terrain, changes in the religious terrain, and questions about the meaning of life. This paper is composed as follows: first, we examine the changes in the religious terrain, focusing on the phenomenon of de-religionization and the resulting changes in the nature of conflicts between religions. Second, we discuss the necessity of religious education as civic education to overcome religious illiteracy and religious hatred, and religious literacy education. Third, we discuss the significance and limitations of ‘education of the religious’ as a reflection on the question of the meaning of life. Finally, we propose interreligious education as an alternative for religious education in Christian universities, which is located between apologetic education and liberal arts education, to become liberal arts education.
