본고에서는 한국인의 행복 수준에 긍정적, 부정적 영향을 미치는 요인을 감안해 새로운 지표 체계를 만들었다. 이런 지표체계를 활용해 한국인의 행복 수준을 OECD 31개 회원국과 1990년에서 2017년 기간을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과 한국인의행복 수준은 OECD 국가들과 비교하여 하위권에 속하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 한국인의 행복 결정 요인의 특성을 파악하기 위해 한국과 유사한 국가군을 선정하여한국과 이들 국가를 대상으로 패널회귀분석을 시도하였다. 분석결과 OECD 회원국전체를 대상으로 한 분석과 한국 유사 특성 국가들을 대상으로 한 분석에서 모두 행복의 긍정적 요인 개선은 행복수준을 높이는 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 부정적 요인 개선은 한국 유사 특성 국가들에서만 행복수준을 높이는 영향이 있는것으로 파악되었다. 결과적으로 한국을 포함한 유사 특성 국가들의 경우 행복의 부정적 요인을 포함하는 지표 체계가 행복 수준을 파악하는데 유용함을 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, to develop a new Happiness Indicator that assesses the happiness level and condition of the Korean people by systematizing the positive and negative factors; second, to identify which factors are determinant in increasing or decreasing the happiness level of Koreans compared to the OECD member countries. We found that positive factors of happiness have a significant positive effect on happiness levels for the OECD countries, while negative factors of happiness have a positive effect for Korea and similar countries. As a result, it was confirmed that the happiness indicator including the negative factors proposed in this paper is valid for understanding the happiness level of Koreans.
