Abstract

This paper examined the impact of corruption on happiness using 2012–2021 panel data from OECD countries. The linear regression, fixed-effects, and random-effects models were employed for the empirical analysis. After controlling the effects of economic, social, and government variables, we found that less corruption increases happiness. These results indicate that government must implement public policies to decrease corruption levels for citizens to be happier.
