‘취약성’ 개념을 통한 상호주관적 인정관계의 재구성 : 인정에 대한 버틀러의 논의를 중심으로

인정이 이데올로기로 작동할 때, 호네트가 주장하듯이 인정투쟁의 결과가 항상 사회의 도덕적 진보를 가져온다고 말할 수 있을까? 이데올로 기적인 사회적 인정질서 안에서, 상호주관적 인정관계를 확장시키기 위한 인정투쟁이 역설적으로 또 다른 배제의 영역을 생산하는 결과를 가져올 위험은 없는가? 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로, 이 논문에서는 배제의 영역을 생산해내지 않는 방식으로 상호주관적 인정관계의 확장을 꾀하기 위해서는 현대의 사회적 관계를 포괄할 수 있도록 상호주관적 인정관계를 재구성할 필요가 있음을 주장하고자 한다. 이러한 주장을 하기 위해 먼저 이데올로기적 인정질서 안에서 규범이 어떻게 작동하며 그 효과는 무엇인지를 버틀러의 수행성 개념으로 설명한다. 다음으로 헤겔 『정신현상학』의 ‘불행한 의식’에 대한 버틀러의 논의를 통해, 근대적 주체개념과 연관된 상호주관적 인정관계는 육체 라는 타자를 배제함으로써 구성될 수 있었던 관계임을 밝힐 것이다. 마지막으로 취약성(Vulnerability)개념을 중심으로 상호주관적 인정관 계를 재구성할 때, 또 다른 배제의 영역을 생산하지 않는 방식으로 상호주관적 인정관계를 확장해 나가는 것이 가능해질 것이라고 주장하고자 한다.
Abstract
When recognition operates as an ideology, as Honneth argues, does the effect of the recognition struggle always bring moral progress of society? In an ideological social recognition, wouldn't the struggle for recognition to expand an intersubjective relationship of recognition cause paradoxically results that produce another area of exclusion? Based on this awareness, this paper will argue that to extend an intersubjective relationship of recognition in a way that does not produce an area of exclusion, intersubjective recognition needs to be reconstructed to cover contemporary social relations. For this, first, with Butler’s concept of performativity, I explain the way norms work and their effects in social recognition. And then, I reveal that with Butler’s rereading Hegel on the unhappy consciousness, the intersubjective recognition associated with the modern subject could be constituted by excluding the body as the other. Lastly, I assert that If we reconstruct the intersubjective recognition centered on the concept of vulnerability, it will be possible to extend intersubjective recognition In a way that does not produce another exclusion.
