근대전환기 영적담(靈蹟談)의 양상과 의의 - 『천도교회월보』 소재 ‘영적실기(靈蹟實記)’를 중심으로 ­

Abstract

I studied on the aspects of Yeongjeokdams(靈蹟談) and the meaning of its transmission at the transition periods to modern times in this essay. First, I observed the type and characteristic of Yeongjeoksilgi(靈蹟實記) in Cheondogyohoewolbo(天道敎會月報). These Yeongjeokdams are marked by that experienced Yeongjeok such as the return, the lifesaving in recompense for the ascetic practice with ones utmost sincerity. Next, I examined the aspects of Yeongjeokdam collected in Yeongjeoksilgi centering around the Pure Water, the Sacred Rice, the Oil Yeongjeok. These Yeongjeokdams are marked by that the material miracles took place in the pure water, the sacred rice, the oil themselves. Last, these Yeongjeokdams are considered to be the product of modern ceremony because they occurred after the pure water ceremony and the sacred rice ceremony are established. Therefore the mass production of these Yeongjeokdams are due to the distinct characteristics of Cheondogyo at turning point of modern ages that projected for its advancement by stirring up the religious belief.
