본 연구는 영화 <춘풍>(1935)을 둘러싼 다양한 텍스트(소설, 영화소설)의 매체적 특성을 분석하는 데 초점을 맞춘다. <춘풍>은 박기채, 양세웅이 조선영화계에 새롭게 데뷔한 영화로, 1930년대 중반 조선영화계의 세대교체를 보여주는 상징적 작품이었지만, 현재는 필름이 남아 있지 않다. 본 연구는 영화 <춘풍> 관련 텍스트인 안석영의 원작소설과 박기채의 영화소설의 매체적 특성을 각각 분석하고, 두 텍스트 사이의 관계 역시 면밀히 고찰한다. 안석영의 원작소설 「춘풍」은 영화적 연속성(continuity)의 구현은 물론 영화적 특징을 적극적으로 수용했는데, 이 소설은 언어적 묘사는 물론 삽화적 차원에서도 영화적 기법을 적극적으로 수용하고 있었음을 보여준다. 그리고 이러한 안석영의 매체적 전략은 박기채의 영화작업으로 이어져, 영화 <춘풍>은 물론 영화소설 「춘풍」에도 여러 영향을 주고 있다. 본 연구는 1930년대 중반, ‘소설’과 ‘영화소설’의 경계가 점차 흐려지는 이러한 국면을 <춘풍> 관련 텍스트를 통해 분석하고, 1930년대 조선영화와 문학의 상호작용을 재조명하고자 한다.
Abstract
This study focuses on analyzing the media characteristics of various texts (novel and film novel) related to the film Chunpung (1935). Chunpung marked the debut of Park Ki-chae and Yang Se-woong in the Joseon film industry and served as a symbolic work reflecting the generational shift in the mid-1930s. However, the film itself has not survived. This study examines the media characteristics of two key texts associated with Chunpung: Ahn Seok-young’s original novel and Park Ki-chae’s film novel. while also closely investigating the relationship between them. Ahn Seok-young’s original novel Chunpung exhibits cinematic continuity and actively incorporates cinematic elements in both its linguistic descriptions and accompanying illustrations. Ahn’s media strategy extended to Park Ki-chae’s film adaptation, influencing not only the film Chunpung but also its film novel. By examining Chunpung-related texts, this study explores how the boundaries between "novel" and "film novel" became increasingly blurred in the mid-1930s. Furthermore, it aims to recontextualize the dynamic interaction between cinema and literature in colonial-era Joseon.
