중국 국제관계학계의 이론과 연구 영역 발전에 관한 재고찰

본 논문은 중국 국제관계학계 내부에서 논의하고 있는 중국 특색, 중국학파 등 국제관계학계 이론연구와 연구 영역의 발전 경향에 대해 압축적으로 재고찰한다. 중국은 개혁개방 이후 서구 이론의 수용과 더불어 중국 특색의 이론 개발에 주목하며, 학자들의 다양한 이견과 토론을 진행하고 있다. 이 같은 중국 학계 내부의 이론연구의 내용과 목표는 현재 중국이 추구하는 국제질서, 전략과 상관관계를 형성한다. 시진핑 시기 중국학계의 연구 경향은 시진핑 사상에 경도한 외교 이론과 정책 연구, 중국이 추동하는 국제관계, 지향하는 국제 질서, 국제사회에서 적용 가능성을 꾸준히 논의하고 있다. 또한, 중국 학계에서 제기한 이론의 독창성과 그 한계, 방법론에 대한 이견이 있으며 이를 극복하기 위한 연구를 진행하고 있다. 따라서 중국이 추구하는 국가 전략과 정책의 의도와 목표를 확인하기 위해서는 중국 국제관계학계에서 어떤 연구와 논의를 진행하는지 그 변화를 지속해서 주목할 필요가 있음을 주장하였다.
Abstract
This paper comprehensively reexamines the theoretical research and development trends within the Chinese international relations academia, particularly focusing on the discussion of Chinese characteristics and the emergence of Chinese schools of thought. Following the reform and opening-up period, China has increasingly emphasized the acceptance of Western theories while also striving to develop theories with distinct Chinese characteristics. This has led to various disagreements and debates among scholars. The content and objectives of such theoretical research within Chinese academia are closely correlated with the international order and strategies currently pursued by China. During the Xi Jinping era, research trends consistently explore foreign theories and policy research centered on Xi Jinping thought, with a focus on international relations driven by China, the international order it aims to establish, and its applicability to the international community. Additionally, there remain disagreements regarding the originality, limitations, and methodologies of theories proposed by Chinese scholars, leading to ongoing studies aimed at addressing these issues. Therefore, it is argued that to understand the intentions and goals of China’s national strategy and policy, it is essential to continuously monitor the evolving research and discussions within the Chinese international relations academia.
