이 글은 한국 상고시대로 일컬어지는 환인, 환웅, 단군의 역사를 체육이라는 관점으로 돌아보면서 체육이 단순한 신체 활동이나 운동 기법의 축적을 넘어서 한 사회가 지닌 정신과 철학, 인간에 대한 인식, 공동체 가치가 실천되는 문화적 행위로 해석할 수 있다는 점에서 한국상고체육에 대한 인식을 재고하고자 한다. 이는 체육사의 고찰이 ‘인간이 자신과 세계를 어떻게 인식하고 단련해왔는가’에 대한 통시적 탐구이며 각 문명권의 가치관, 종교, 정치체계, 인간관 등을 반영하는 중요한 문화 요소이기 때문이다. 그리고 고대 주요국들의 대표적인 체육 문화를 살펴보고, 한국상고체육과의 공통점 과 차이점을 비교함으로써 한국상고체육의 고유성과 철학적 특성을 더욱 명확히 조명 하고자 한다. 본 연구는 한국상고체육의 사상과 체계를 조명하고, 현대 단학의 한국상고체육의 철학적 계승성과 그 효과를 논증함으로써, 단학이 단순한 민족 문화 유산을 넘어 세계적 통합웰니스철학으로 발전할 수 있음을 밝히고자 한다.
Abstract
This article examines the history of Hwanin(桓因), Hwanung(桓雄), and Dangun(檀君), which are called the ancient Korean era, from the perspective of physical education, and seeks to reconsider the perception of ancient Korean physical education in that physical education can be interpreted as a cultural act in which the spirit, philosophy, perception of humanity, and community values of a society are practiced, rather than simply an accumulation of physical activities or exercise techniques. This is because the examination of the history of physical education is a diachronic inquiry into ‘how humans have perceived themselves and the world and trained themselves’ and is an important cultural element that reflects the values, religion, political system, and human views of each civilization. In addition, by examining the representative physical education cultures of major ancient countries and comparing the similarities and differences with the physical education of Dangun Joseon, we aim to shed more light on the uniqueness and philosophical characteristics of the physical education of Dangun Joseon. This study aims to shed light on the ideology and system of ancient Korean physical education and to demonstrate the philosophical succession and effectiveness of modern Danhak(丹學) from ancient Korean physical education, thereby revealing that Danhak can develop into a global integrated wellness philosophy beyond a simple national cultural heritage.
