건축기술 방면으로 본 발해문화의 다양성

본 연구는 건축기술 방면에서 공식적인 왕래가 별로 없었던 당대 발해와 한반도지역 신라와의 상관성, 중국 중원지역 당과의 상관성, 발해 이후 한반도지역 고려로 전승되었 던 건축적 요소들이 무엇인지를 탐색하여 발해문화의 다양성을 도출해 보았다. 다루어 졌던 요소(건축 기법 및 기술)들은 ‘돌못’, ‘합각선’, ‘도시계획’, ‘궁궐배치’, ‘전탑조영’, ‘기둥밑치레’로 새롭게 찾은 건축기술을 주요 탐구대상으로 하였다. 지금까지 발해문화를 바라보는 관점은 당시 그 주변국이었던 당과 그리고 발해를 탄생시킨 고구려와 말갈의 객체적 입장에만 몰입되어 있었다. 그리고 발해와 고려의 관계를 정통성에서 차이가 있는 별개 국가로 인식한 것도 사실이다. 국경을 맞댄 국가와 국가가 비록 정치적 교류는 단절되더라도 건축을 비롯한 문화는 어떠한 방식이든 상호 교섭하게 되어있다. 지금부터라도 발해를 객체가 아닌 주체로 설정하고 당대와 그 이후 로 주변국들과 어떠한 문화적 교류가 있었는지 폭넓고 깊게 탐구해 나가야겠다.
Abstract
This study examined the correlation between Balhae and Silla in the Korean Peninsula in terms of architectural technology. It also examined what kind of relationship there was with the Tang Dynasty in central China. It explored what architectural elements were passed down to Goryeo in the Korean Peninsula after the fall of Balhae. By examining the architectural cultural correlation between Balhae and surrounding countries it examined the diversity of Balhae culture. The architectural techniques and technologies investigated were ‘stone stud’, ‘grable line’, ‘urban planning’, ‘palace layout’, ‘building of pagodas’, and ‘column lower decoration material’ all of which are architectural technology elements newly discovered by the researcher. Until now the perspectives on Balhae culture have been studied only from the perspectives of Tang which was Balhae’s neighboring country at the time and Goguryeo and Mohe which gave birth to Balhae. It is also true that the relationship between Balhae and Goryeo was recognized as separate countries. Even if political exchanges between countries bordering each other are cut off culture including architecture interacts with each other in some way. From now on we must establish Balhae as a subject rather than an object and conduct a broad and deep study of what kind of cultural exchanges it had with neighboring countries during that time and thereafter.
