‘선현미담(先賢美談)’에 나타난 유아 인성교육 덕목과 활용 양상-한국국학진흥원의 ‘아름다운 이야기할머니’ 활동을 중심으로-

Abstract

This study aims to present a direction for discovering future story materials by examining how old Korean stories told by The Beautiful Story Grandmothers Project of the Korean Studies Institute have been used for early childhood personality education and analyzing the virtues of personality education. First of all, this study looked at the operation status of this project for a basic understanding of the story project of the beautiful story grandmother, which was implemented by the Korean Studies Promotion Agency from 2012 to 2023. The total number of stories told at the site from 2012 to 2023 by the Korea Institute for the Promotion of Korean Stud ies as a beautiful story grandmother pro ject was 391, and 168 stories of Seonhyeon Midam were identified. Among them, five are the most popular stories of Sun SunHyun Mi-dam selected more than four times, with the first place (8th selection) being “Hongseom who saved his father from a frog” (Jihye, Hyo), the second place (5th selection) being “Kim Deuk-shin, the child who read the book 10,000 times” (Effort), “The scholar who returned the thief’s money, Hong Ki-seop” (honesty), and the third place (fourth selection) being “Meng Sa-seong, the scho lar who taught caution of speech” (Yeui, Ji-hae), and “ Kim Man-deok, Jeju Island” (Sharing, love for the people, Service). On the other hand, the Korean Studies Institute Beautiful Story Grandmother Project Group classified the old stories SeonHyun Midam told from 2012 to 2023 by subject and examined them as virtues of character education, and found that wisdom (53), effort (26), filial piety (22), country love (13), honesty (11), and consideration (9). Next, it was found that it led to courage, brotherly love, enlightenment, courtesy, friendship, and sharing. In particular, all seven of the eight core values of the Personality Education Promotion Act except for “communication” were included, confirming that the ‘Sunhyun Midam’ of the beautiful story grandmother of the Korean Studies Promotion Agency played a positive role in the use of early childhood personality education suitable for infants aged 3 to 5.
