이글에서는 15주기를 맞은 아름다운 이야기할머니 활동에서의 인성교육 자료(2010~2024년) 현황을 살펴보고, 인성교육의 핵심 자료가 되는 이야기 개발과 선정 과제를 제시하였다. 이야기할머니 활동은 2010년부터 2024년까지 총 456회의 누적 구연이 이루어졌다. 이야기할머니 구연종목의 선정 기준이 되는 항목은 청중 연령 및 수준, 시대성, 참신성, 교훈성(인성교육), 유형의 균형성 등이다. 선정된 구연종목의 주제는 인성교육진흥법에서 명시한 예禮, 효孝, 정직, 책임, 존중, 배려, 소통, 협동 8가지 덕목 중 ‘효’ 덕목의 선정 비중이 비교적 높은 편이었고, ‘소통’ 덕목은 선정되지 않았다. 인성교육진흥법 8개 덕목 이외에도 40여 개의 인성 덕목을 교육 주제로 추가하였다. 특히, ‘지혜’의 덕목은 ‘효’ 덕목보다 2배 이상 많이 선정된 바, 이야기할머니 구연활동에서 비중있게 다루는 덕목임을 확인하였다. 이야기할머니활동의 현행 교재(2010~2024년)를 검토하여 교재 구성 체제 내 구연종목의 주제 오류 및 불일치와 구연종목의 선정 기준과 교육 내용의 불일치 문제를 지적하였다. 나아가 구연종목의 개발 및 선정의 변화 방향으로 환상담 종목의 개발 확대, 반복성과 계열성을 통한 구연종목 개발 방안을 제언하였다.
Abstract
This study examines the current status of character education materials used in the Beautiful Storytelling Grandmothers program over the past 15 years (2010~2024) and explores the challenges in developing and selecting traditional folktales as core resources for character education. From 2010 to 2024, a total of 456 oral storytelling performances were conducted under the Beautiful Storytelling Grandmothers program. The selection criteria for the program included audience age and level, relevance to the times, novelty, didactic nature (character education), and balance of types. The themes of the selected stories indicate that the proportion of stories emphasizing the virtue of ‘filial piety’ was relatively high among the eight virtues specified in the Character Education Promotion Act, namely courtesy, filial piety, honesty, responsibility, respect, consideration, communication, and cooperation. The virtue of ‘communication’ was not selected. In addition to the eight virtues specified in the Character Education Promotion Act, approximately 40 other character virtues were incorporated as educational topics into the program. In particular, the virtue of ‘wisdom’ was selected more than twice as often as ‘filial piety’, confirming that it is a virtue that is heavily featured in the program. Subsequently, the current textbooks (2010~2024) of the Beautiful Storytelling Grandmothers program were reviewed, highlighting thematic errors and inconsistencies in the selected stories within the textbook structure, as well as the inconsistency between the selection criteria for storytelling materials and the educational content. Furthermore, in order to propose changes in the development and selection of storytelling materials, this study suggested a plan to expand the fantasy story categories and further develop storytelling resources through repetition and sequencing.
