이 논문은 1945년부터 1950년까지의 북한 정부의 ‘신국가건설’ 과정에서 노인의 경제적·정치적 역할과 의미를 심도 있게 분석하고자 하였다. 해방 이후 청장년층이 주도한 사회 변화 속에서 노인들은 종종 소외되었으나, 본 연구는 노인들이 새로운 사회에서 어떻게 재조명되고 활용되었는지를 밝혀내고자 하였다. 특히, 1946년 토지개혁과 선거 과정을 중심으로 노인들의 정치적·경제적 역할을 고찰하였다, 토지개혁에서는 ‘노인 김제원’의 애국미 운동을 통해 노인들이 북한 사회에서 어떤 의미를 가졌는지 구명하고자 하였고 1946년 이후 5차례의 선거에서 인구의 10~12%를 차지하는 ‘유권자 노인’에 대한 의미를 밝혀내 당시 노인들의 ‘신국가건설’과정에서의 노인 역할을 추적하였다. 이를 통해 아시 노인들의 ‘쓸모’와 그들의 사회적 위치를 재평가하고, 새로운 역사적 해석과 사회적 이해를 제안하고자 하였다.
Abstract
This paper seeks to examine the economic and political role and significance of the elderly in the North Korean government’s “new nation-building” process between 1945 and 1950. Although the elderly were frequently marginalized in the social changes that followed liberation, this study seeks to elucidate how they were reevaluated and incorporated into the emerging social order. This study, in particular, examines the political and economic roles of the elderly, with a focus on the 1946 land reform and the election process. With regard to the land reform, the study aimed to ascertain the significance of the elderly in North Korean society through the lens of the patriotic movement spearheaded by Elderly Kim Jae-won. It also sought to elucidate the role of the elderly in the process of nation-building by examining the role of the elderly electorate, who constituted 10-12% of the population in the five elections held after 1946. In this way, the researchers sought to reevaluate the perceived usefulness of the elderly in Asia and their social position, and to propose new historical interpretations and social understandings.
