Abstract
This study aims to comprehensively examine the characteristics of affective polarization among South Korean voters and analyze the relationship between political efficacy and affective polarization. The findings demonstrate that voters with higher levels of political efficacy exhibit increased levels of affective polarization. Furthermore, voters with higher political efficacy demonstrate decreased favorability toward the party they do not prefer. The analysis reveals that, regardless of the time period, voters with stronger partisan intensity demonstrate higher levels of affective polarization. Additionally, the study finds that age, education level, ideological orientation, regional identity, and political interest have statistically significant influences on the degree of affective polarization. These findings contribute to the expanding literature on affective polarization.
