Abstract

This study pursued a dialogue between Buddhism and positive psychology, but also tried to examine how Buddhist insight can be effective in developing mental well-being. This study examines how Buddhism can benefit positive emotions, commitment, and happiness in the meaning of life according to positive psychology. In other words, the contribution to subjective happiness, psychosocial happiness, hedonistic happiness, or udemonic happiness was examined. It was found that Buddhism provides a deep level of positive emotional happiness based on mindfulness meditation, while pursuing a udaimonic happiness based on virtue rather than instantaneous hedonistic happiness. In addition, Buddhism suggested that there are many factors that can create a synergistic effect with positive psychology in terms of the development of positive emotions, the cultivation of positive qualities (virtue or character strength), and psychological treatment. Buddhism, which provides a way to achieve happiness of positive emotions through the happiness of udaimonia based on virtue and mindfulness meditation presented.
