서아프리카에 위치한 말리는 15세기경부터 고대 가나 왕국의 뒤를 이어 소금,금,상아,노예 등을 거래하는 사하라 종·횡단 무역로의 중심지에 있었다. 이 지역을 지배하기 위해 말리,송가이,카넴-보르누 왕국들이 시기적으로 흥망성쇠를 이어가며 각축을 벌였다.이후 19세기에 들어 제국주의 국가들의 식민지 개척이 이어지면서 말리도 1895년 프랑스의 식민지가 되었다.말리의 북부지역에 대한 경제적 발전이 장기간 이루어지지 못한 것이 내전발생의 빌미가되었다.프랑스 식민지배 시기 동안 이 지역을 현대화와 개발 지역으로 편입시키지 못했고,이와 같은 상황은 독립이 이루어지던 1960년대까지 계속되었다. 이번 연구의 목적은 말리 내전의 이해에 초점을 둔 가운데 말리의 역사적 과정을 통해 내전이 촉발·확대된 원인을 조망하는데 있다.이를 위해 제2장에서는 내전이 발생하게 되는 일반 및 특정상황과 개념을 구체화할 수 있는 이론적배경을 소략하고,제3장에서는 말리의 역사 변천 속에서 말리 내전의 동인을탐색해 내고자 한다.이와 같은 과정은 본 논문을 전개하는데 있어 매우 중요한 절차임을 밝혀 둔다. 제4장에서는 프랑스 식민통치가 북부·남부의 차별을 가져왔고,군부 쿠데타를 통해 말리 군부 정치 개입이 빈번해졌으며,아자와드 민족해방운동(MNLA)가 북부에서 분리 ·독립 시도를 하면서 프랑스의 개입으로 이어졌고,리비아정치 불안은 원리주의 세력이 말리로 유입되는 요인으로 작용했다는 내전원인별 인과관계를 규명하고자 한다.제5장 결론에서는 각 장별 주요 내용을 요약한다.
Abstract
Discontinuation of the economic development in the Northern Mali for a long time stimulated Civil War.During the French Colonial era, the area was deprived of any further development, and such under-development continued until the nation's independence in 1960s. The purpose of this study is to identify reasons behind the outbreak/expansion of Mali Civil War through the overview of Mali history, with focus on the understanding of the conflict. For this purpose, Chapter 2 will brief on the theological basis to specify the general/specific situation and concepts underlying the outbreak of the civil war, and Chapter 3 will be searching for causes that led to the civil war within the historical context of the nation. Iemphasize that the se procedures are of criticali mportance in developing the logical order of this study. In Chapter 4, the study will examine causal relations in each of causes,providing explanations that French Colonial Rule brought discrimination between the North and the South, that Military Coup d'tat prompted frequent intervention of military,that MNLA(National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad)'s trial for separation and independence in the North led to French intervention, and that politica linstability in Libya provided basis for influx of Islamic fundamentalists into Mali.In conclusion part, Chapter 5 will summarize previous chapters.
