많은 여성들이 경험하는 돌봄의 문제는 여성의 자기 이해, 건강 및 상호관계에 부정적인 영향을 줄 수 있다. 가부장적인 문화의 기대는 여성들이 자신의 필요와 감정을 희생하며 누군가를 돌보도록 의무감을 느끼게 한다. 의존노동으로서의 돌봄은 돌보는 이의 삶을 양적으로 압도할 수 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 여성들의 돌봄 경험을 의존노동과 사회적 부정의 개념, 여성주의 상담 및 여성주의 목회신학의 관점에서 분석하고 이를 통해 여성주의 목회상담적 돌봄 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 이 연구는 사례 연구방법과 여성주의 목회신학을 적용하여 여성의 돌봄을 이해하기 위한 여성주의 진단 과정의 필요성을 강조한다. 이를 위해 철학자 에바 커테이, 정치학자 아이리스 메리안 영, 여성주의 상담 연구자 주디스 워렐, 파멜라 리머, 로라 브라운, 목회신학자 크리스티 코자드 뉴거와의 대화가 진행된다. 이 연구에서의 분석은 돌봄 경험에 있는 의존노동의 요소, 억압의 양상들, 기존 DSM 5 관점에 의한 진단 과정과 분류 체계 사용에 있어서 유의할 점과 같은 보다 다양한 측면들을 나타낸다. 직장과 가정 모두에서 돌봄경험을 하는 여성들의 상황에 대한 여성주의적 진단의 적용은 DSM 5 접근에 의한 진단의 중요성과 제한성을 고려하는 가운데 제안된다. 우리가 돌봄의 사회문화적 차원에 주의를 돌려 주목할 때, 우리는 의존노동으로서의 돌봄에 있는 개인의 돌봄 부담을 공적 영역에서 구조화할 수 있는 정당한 방법과 여성들을 지원할 수 있는 다양한 대안들을 모색해야 한다. 이 연구는 여성주의 목회신학의 관점에서 여성이 하는 돌봄노동의 실천을 평가하고 돌봄 경험에서의 신학적 의미를 발전시킬 수 있도록 돕는 목회상담을 시도하였다는 데에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Many women struggle with the problem of care that could negatively influence their self-understanding, health, and interpersonal relationships. Patriarchal cultural expectations often make women feel obliged to care for others and to minimize their own needs and feelings. Care as dependency work can overwhelm the career’s life. The purpose of this study is to examine the lived experiences of carers at work and at home concerning the concepts of dependency work, social injustice, and feminist perspectives in therapy. I also explore the implications of pastoral theological reflections in the practice of feminist pastoral care and counseling for women as the carers. I emphasize the necessity of feminist diagnostic processes using the case study method and feminist pastoral theology. I also attempt a multidisciplinary conversation using the philosophy of Eva Feder Kittay, the political theory of Iris Marion Young, feminist perspectives in therapy by Judith Worell, Pamela Remer, Laura Brown, and the feminist pastoral theology of Christie Cozad Neuger. The analyses point to more facets of carers' experiences of caring as the elements of dependency work, distinct types of oppression, and the necessary considerations of the DSM 5 approach's to diagnostic process and classification system. I suggest that the applications of feminist diagnosis to the experiences of carers should consider both the importance and limitations of DSM 5's approach. When we alter our focus and see the sociocultural dimension of care, we also have to consider just and considerate ways to reconstruct the burdens of care and to search for various alternatives for women. In conclusion, this study argues how feminist pastoral theology helps pastoral caregivers evaluate the practice of care work and explore the theological meanings of female carers' experiences.
