본 연구에서는 국내 거주 러시아어 화자들이 한국어 차용어 апаты(아파트)와 러시아어 단어 квартира를 어떻게 인식하고 사용하는지를 조사하였다. 이를 위해 설문조사를 실시하여 두 단어의 의미와 사용 양상을 분석하였다. квартира는 러시아어에서 개별 거주 공간을 포괄적으로 지칭하는 반면, апаты는 고층 건물, 현대적 디자인, 경비 및 주차 시설과 같은 외형적·기능적 특성을 포함하는 개념으로 수용되고 있다. 이는 한국의 공동주택 문화가 러시아어 사용자들에게 독자적인 주거 유형으로 인식되고 있음을 시사한다. 응답자들은 квартира를 주로 저층 다세대 건물과 연관 지었으나, апаты는 현대적인 고층 공동주택과 다양한 생활 인프라를 포함하는 주거 형태로 평가하였다. 일부 응답자들은 апаты를 ‘고급형 квартира’로 인식하며, 한국의 공동주택 문화가 러시아어 화자들에게 긍정적인 거주 환경으로 수용되고 있음을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 한국의 공동주택 개념이 러시아어 화자들 사이에서 독자적인 의미를 획득하고 있음을 확인하였으며, 이를 통해 주거 문화의 언어적 차용과 문화적 적응 과정에 대한 시사점을 제공한다.
Abstract
This study examines the differences in perception between the Russian word ‘квартира’ and the Korean loanword ‘апаты’ among Russian speakers living in Korea. A survey was conducted to analyze how their linguistic and cultural backgrounds influence their perceptions of housing, both interior and exterior. In modern Russian, ‘квартира’ is primarily defined as an individual living space, encompassing various forms derived from different historical and social contexts. This study organizes the semantic hierarchical structure of ‘квартира’ and analyzes its relationship with hypernyms and hyponyms. Furthermore, it explores the cultural and functional meanings embedded in ‘квартира’, extending beyond its literal sense as a type of housing. A comparison with ‘апартамент’ is also presented to highlight the lexical and cultural distinctions between the two terms. Additionally, this research investigates the influence of linguistic and cultural backgrounds on word choice by analyzing the perception of ‘квартира’ and ‘апаты’ among Russian speakers in Korea. The study systematically categorizes differences in perception based on respondents’ living environments, year of immigration, and housing types. Through this analysis, the study discusses how bilingual speakers assign meanings to these terms and how their contextual usage evolves.
