Europe Imperial Countries’ Language Policies and it’s Effect against the Middle East Countries-revolving around Lebanon

When I study the Arabic language situation, I have tried to find the answer to the constantly question for a long time. Why the Arab people who have the great pride to the Arabic language prefer the foreign languages like English and French to the Arabic language even it is their mother tongue?Basically this issue is related the choice of language variations but it has also deep relation with the national and language identity in the Arab world. So the solution for this issue is approached in the multidirection including historical, social, national and language aspect. Of course we can consider many reasons to understand the language situation and its behaviors in Arab countries. But I think that the Europe imperialism’s language policy in their colonies must be considered as the one of the most important factors. In this research, I will study the Europe imperialism’s language policy in their colonies and it’s results and effects. Especially I will research the France’s language policy in Lebanon during the colonial period as the case study. Ultimately, this research aims to investigate the effect of imperialism’s language policy in their colonies based on France and Lebanon.
