Choi In-hoon's A Life of Raul and Park Sang-ryung's Aceldama(field of blood) were published around 1960. Although they are early works, those works suggest those novelists' representative literary tendencies. There are allegorical situations of man facing the absolute in those works. Those novelists consider the limitations and possibilities of characters who are imperfect compared with the absolute. At that time Korean society was dislocated by ethical disorder which resulted from the absence of the authority from outside that can build moral principles. To build one's own ethic(self-ethic) was one of the ways to solve that problem. For a historic demand like that, possibilities of building a self-ethic are considered paradoxically in allegorical situations that man faced the most authoritative being of the absolute.
