본 연구는 다문화 병사의 증가에 따라 군 조직 내 다문화 이해교육의 실태를분석하고, 효과적인 개선방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 다문화 병사를 직접 관리한 경험이 있는 예비역 간부 5인과 다문화사회 전문가 3인을 대상으로 초점집단면접(FGI)을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 현재 군 다문화 이해교육은 제도적 기반은 존재하지만, 교육 대상이 구체화 되지 않았으며, 지휘관과 간부의 인식 부족과 군 현실과 맞지 않는 교육 내용 등 체계와 운영 측면에서 한계점이 도출되었다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 다문화 교육의 대상 확대, 직책별 맞춤형 교육 구성, 병영 사례를 기반으로 한 교육 자료 개발, 교육 주기 확대 등의 정책 발전 방안을모색하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the current status of multicultural understanding education within the military in response to the increasing number of multicultural soldiers and to suggest effective improvement measures. A Focus Group Interview (FGI) was conducted with five retired non-commissioned officers who had experience managing multicultural soldiers and three multicultural society experts. The findings revealed that although institutional foundations for multicultural education exist, the lack of clearly defined target groups, limited awareness among commanders and officers, and content misaligned with the realities of military life highlight critical limitations in the current system and its implementation. Based on these findings, this study proposes expanding the target of multicultural education, developing position-specific curricula, producing training materials grounded in actual military cases, establishing a preemptive training system centered on commanders, and increasing the frequency of educational sessions.
