『돈키호테』에는 세르반테스가 생각했으리라고 보는 오늘날 무정부주의의 확고한 토대로 여길 수 있는, 이상적인 꿈만 같은 사회를 보장하는 무정부주의적 특징들을 만나 볼 수 있다. 인간 위에 군림하는 일체의 조직이나 권력을 인정하지 않는 것이 무정부주의라는 사전적 의미임을 볼 때 그러한 면들이 어떻게 작품 속에 나타나고 있는지 “인간과 사회와의 관계”와 “인간과 종교와의 관계”라는 측면에서 본 연구는 이루어진다. “인간과 사회와의 관계” 측면에서는 인간적 차원인 세상 속에서의 자유와 정의 및 유토피아적 사회구현 및 인간이 만든 제도에 대한 거부 등이 어떻게 작품에 나타나고 있는 지를 살피는 일이고, “종교와 인간간의 관계”에서는 어느 누구도 종교에서 자유롭지 못했던 시대 어떤 방법으로 종교를 무정부주의적 관점으로 투사하고 있는지 살피는 일이다. 이를 위해 역사 속에서 나타난 무정부주의의 흔적과 특징을 살피고, 무정부주의적 돈키호테 사상이 작품에서 어떤 결론에 이르렀으며, 실제로 후대에 미친 영향은 무엇인지로 연구는 마무리된다.
Abstract
Characteristics of anarchism can be found in many aspects of Donquijote. This suggests that Cervantes thought the ideal society had to be based on what are now recognized as the firm tenets of anarchism. This study aims to investigate the anarchist thoughts from two perspectives: the relationship between the individual and society, and the relationship between the individual and religion. The first perspective involves analyzing statements related to anarchism caused by an anti-state ideology: attitudes that convey an antiestablishment perspective and a desire for a better life characterized by equality, brotherhood, peace, justice, and human perfection. The goal of this ideology is to achieve the greatest degree of happiness for our species. The second perspective recognizes that the longings for justice, equality, and peace are found not only in anarchist standards but also in religious ideas. Although anarchism carries in its essence anti-authoritarianism and anti-clericalism, during Cervantes' time, nothing escaped the influence of religious ideas. In conclusion, we can see that Cervantes' anarchist desires and dreams have degenerated into a mere utopia of evasion, because his adventurer goes from one failure to another and Sancho's government is ineffective. However, the author's model of the dream society has survived and inspired successful antiestablishment reformers today in cities such as Mondragón and Marinaleda in Spain.
