융 분석심리학 관점에서 상징(symbol)의 개념과 이해: 미스 밀러의 환상을 중심으로

이 연구는 융 심리학적 관점에서 상징의 개념과 이해를 위해 진행되었다. Flournoy(1906)의 Miss Frank Miller의 치료 논문을 Jung(1912)이 분석하였다. 본 연구자는 Jung이 밀러의 환상자료를 4가지로 나누어 분석한 것을 토대로 상징에 대한 개념과 의미를 찾았다. 분석 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫 번째 환상 ‘Phenomena of Transitory Suggestion or of Instantaneous Autosuggestion’, 두 번째 환상 ‘Gloy to God : a Dream Poem’, 세 번째 환상 ‘The Moth and The Sun : a Hypnagogic Poem’, 네 번째 환상 ‘“Chiwanpopel”, a Hypnagogic Dream’이다. 미스 밀러의 환상이 개인적인 차원을 넘어서 집단무의식의 원형상들과 어떻게 관계되는지를 집중적으로 분석하였다. 심혼과 정신현상 전체를 조망하기 위해 시, 문학, 신화, 전설, 등 방대한 자료를 동원하여 확충의 방법을 사용하였다. 주로 리비도의 개념과 변환, 영웅의 기원과 숙명, 그리고 어머니 원형의 여러 가지 측면을 조망하였다.
Abstract
This study was conducted for the concept and understanding of symbols from the Jung psychological point of view. The treatment paper of Miss Frank Miller by Flournoy (1906) was analyzed by Jung (1912). Based on Jung's analysis of Miller's fantasy data in four categories, this researcher found the concept and meaning of symbols. The analysis is as follows. The first fantasy is 'Phenomena of Transitional Sugation or of Instantaneous Autosuggestion', the second fantasy is 'Gloys to God : a Dream Poem', the third fantasy is 'The Motor and the Sun : a Hypnagical Poem' and the fourth one is ‘“Chiwanpopel”, a Hypnagogic Dream’. The focus was on how Miss Miller's fantasies relate beyond the individual dimension to the archetypes of collective unconsciousness. A method of amplification was used to view the entire spiritual and spiritual phenomena by mobilizing a vast amount of materials such as poetry, literature, mythology, legend, etc. Mainly the concept and transformation of Libido, the origins and destiny of heroes, and various aspects of mother archetypes.
