Abstract
· Research topics: By attempting to understand symbols related to the individualization process from the perspective of convergence psychology, focusing on the visions of Zosimos, an ancient alchemist, we want to find clues to the human existential pain and the process of overcoming it. · Research background: Jung discovered an inner mental process in alchemy and tried to prove that it was a universal and primitive symbol of humanity beyond its time and cultural characteristics. · Differences from prior research: Understand the symbols of Zosimos’ visions by subject and explain the specific process of individualization. · Research method: Through literature review, the symbol of Zosimos’ visions is considered in connection with the individualization process. · Research results: The Zosimos visions is a prototype symbol of the universal and primitive spirit of mankind, and this process of individualization of human beings is an inevitable process of achieving totality. · Contribution points and expected effects: This paper is meaningful in that it examines the symbols of alchemy to understand symbols as an important factor in understanding the process of individualization through visions of Zosimos.
