본 논문은 코로나 팬데믹으로 확산된 사회적 거리두기와 비대면·온택트 중심의 접촉공간의 변모가 지니는 반생태적 의미를 살펴봄으로써 코로나를 계기로 생태파괴에 대한 기술적 대응의 한계를 성찰한다. 먼저 해러웨이의 ‘친족 만들기’를 중심으로 과학기술시대에 새로이 구성되는 타자에 주목하고 이들과의 새로운 관계 맺기의 생태적 한계를 검토한다. 다음으로 타자와의 접촉공간으로 제3의 장소에 주목했던 올든버그와 타자에 대해 환대의 윤리학을 내세웠던 레비나스를 통해 대안적 장소로 떠오른 사이버 가상공간이 타자와의 사귐을 위한 환대의 장소가 될 수 있는지 살펴본다. 타자와 장소에 대한 인식론적인 연구를 통해 사회적 거리두기나 비대면·온택트로는 인간과 인간, 인간과 자연이 생태적으로 공생 가능한 미래를 구상할 수 없음을 주장한다.
Abstract
This paper reflects on the limitations of the technological response to the ecological destruction caused by the corona 19 outbreak, by examining the ecological implications of the new formation of others and the transformation of social contact space due to non-face-to-face and un-tact relations in society. Firstly, Haraway’s concept of “making kin,” will be critically reviewed in order to identify and define ‘Earthly Others’ in the era of technoscience, and to examine the ecological limits of establishing new relationships with them. Secondly, through a focus on the ideas of Oldenburg, who saw the third place as a space for fellowship with others, and Levinas, who promoted the ethics of hospitality toward others, this paper examines whether the emerging cyberspace can provide an alternative space for practicing hospitality toward others. Finally this paper explores how an ecological symbiosis and coexistence between humans and nature might be encouraged in cyberspace, despite the lack of physical contact between people.
