기후위기 시대의 생태 문제에 관한 많은 과학적·철학적 접근과 처치가 있다. 이에 관련하여 포스트휴머니즘과 신유물론의 맥락에서 도나 해러웨이는 이른바 비인간중심주의적 생태주의를 제안한다. 즉, 인간 존재와 비인간 존재는 서로 직접적인 상호 작용과 상호 응답의 관계로 맺어져 있고, 그러한 관계는 각각의 ‘응답능력(response‑ability)’을 통해 확인되고 강화될 수 있다는 것이다. 이는 많은 과학적, 철학적 함축점을 갖는 주목할 만한 사상이지만, 그에 관련된 난문이 있다. 말하자면, 인간 존재는 비인간 존재의 응답을 어떻게 인지할 것인가? 이 문제에 대하여 해러웨이는 체계적이고 이론적인 답변을 제시하지 않는다. 이 논문에서 우리는 이른바 타자현상학의 이념을 도입하여 그 문제에 대한 보완적 설명을 모색하면서, 그러한 형태의 현상학이 생태계와 연계된 비인간 존재의 내적·외적 정보 상태를 적절하게 추정하고 인식할 수 있게 하는 방법적 전략이 될 수 있다고 논의한다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 인간중심주의를 넘어서, 인간 존재와 비인간 존재의 관계맺음을 적절하게 규명할 수 있는 설명적 토대 놓기에 기여하고자 한다.
Abstract
There are many scientific and philosophical approaches and treatments on ecological problems in the era of climate crisis. With respect to this, in the context of posthumanism and new materialism, Donna Haraway proposes a form of non-anthropocentric ecology. That is, human beings and non-human beings are related to each other through direct interaction and mutual response, and such a relationship can be confirmed and strengthened through their ‘responseability’. This is a remarkable idea with many scientific and philosophical implications, but there are complications associated with it. Namely, how can a human being cognize and understand the non-human being's response (response ability and response content)? Haraway does not offer a systematic, theoretical answer to the question. In this paper, we introduce the idea of the phenomenology of the other to seek out a solution to the problem, and argue that such a form of phenomenology can be a methodological strategy to appropriately estimate and recognize the internal and external informational states of non-human beings. In this way, the present inquiry aims to contribute to laying an explanatory foundation that can properly uncover the relationship between human beings and non-human beings, beyond anthropocentrism.
