사회복지실천교육에서 젠더 이슈와 교육적 함의

클라이언트가 경험하는 사회문제에는 가족관계와 기능, 빈곤, 심신건강 등과 함께 성차별과 불평등 문제가 공존하고 사회복지사와 클라이언트의 다수가 여성이지만 사회복지실천교육에서 젠더 이슈는 간과되었다. 특히 환경 속의 인간에 대한 이해와 사회복지실천의 과정과 방법에 관한 기초교육에서 젠더를 배제한 접근은 사회복지사 전문가 직업개발과 클라이언트와의 실천에서 젠더에 무감각하게 실천하게 하여 전문직의 오류를 범할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 역사적 맥락과 현재 사회복지실천과 여성, 그리고 교육에서 젠더에 관한 현황을 살펴보고 젠더 통합적인 사회복지실천 교육의 방안을 제안해보고자 하였다.
Abstract
Gender issue has been neglected in social work practice and social work education, although a great number of clients and service providers of social work practice are women and gender issues are intertwined with the problems of the clients including family relations and functioning, poverty, physical and mental health problems. Gender-free approaches in social work education may not be informative either for the career development or in social work practice with clients with diverse backgrounds, furthermore such approaches may mislead social workers to gender discriminative practice. In this context, this study examine history and current state of the relationship between social work education and gender, contents of the textbook regarding the consideration and inclusiveness of gender issues, and alternative approaches for the development of gender integrative curricula for social work education.
