상하이협력기구(SCO)의 성장과 러시아 무역 간의 관계 분석: 중력모형을 중심으로

본 연구는 상하이협력기구(SCO)의 성장과 러시아 무역 간의 관계에 있어서 그 발전 과정과 변화 추이를 검토하고 패널중력모형을 이용하여 양자 간의 관계를 실증적으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구는 SCO의 성장을 안보 및 정치적 관점을 중심으로 분석한 기존 연구들과는 달리 경제적인 관점을 중심으로 분석하며, 아울러 중력모형을 이용하여 SCO의 성장과 러시아 무역 간의 상관관계를 분석한다는 점에서 차별성을 갖는다. 러시아의 대외무역에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인을 규명하고 러시아에 특유한 무역 흐름의 특성을 실증적으로 분석하는 것은 향후 러시아 무역의 변화추세를 가늠하기 위해서도 유의미한 연구가 될 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구의 분석 결과, SCO의 성장요인 중 GDP, 무역개방도(Trade Openness), 인간개발지수(HDI), EAEU 가입 여부는 SCO 회원국 확대와 더불어 러시아의 무역을 증대시키는 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 외국인직접투자(FDI), 국가 간 거리, 공동국경은 러시아 무역에 음(–)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 SCO 회원국의 경제 규모가 지속해서 성장할 경우, FDI를 제외한 다른 변수는 러시아 무역에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상된다. 즉, 러시아가 지속적으로 SCO 내에서 무역 활성화를 추구하고 SCO 회원국을 주요 교역상대국으로 삼는 한, 러시아와 SCO 회원국 간에는 상당한 무역전환효과가 발생할 것으로 예상된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the changes in the relationship between SCO growth and Russian trade and to analyze the relationship empirically using a panel gravity model. This study differs from previous studies that analyze the growth of the SCO from the security and political perspective by focusing on the economic perspective and using a gravity model to analyze the correlation between the growth of the SCO and Russian trade. The results of this study show that among the growth factors of the SCO, GDP, Trade Openness, HDI, and EAEU membership have a positive effect on Russia's trade with the SCO members, while foreign direct investment (FDI), distance between countries, and common borders have a negative effect on Russia's trade. Therefore, if SCO members continue to grow in economic size, other variables except FDI, are expected to have a positive effect on Russia's trade. In other words, as long as Russia continues to actively pursue trade with the SCO member states, significant trade diversion effects are expected to occur between Russia and the SCO member states.
