본 연구는 인구 구조가 지역경제에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 신고전파의 생상함수 접근법을 바탕으로 지역경제 성장률 함수를 설정한다. 특히, 유소년 인구와 노인 인구가 지역경제에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 이를 위한 설명변수로 유소년 인구 비중과 노인 인구 비중, 그리고 유소년 부양비와 노인 부양비를 활용한다. 분석 결과, 유소년 인구(유소년 인구 비중, 유소년 부양비)는 지역경제 성장률에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 이러한 경제적 효과에서 도와 특광역시의 차이를 살펴보기 위해 도 더미를 추가하여 분석한 결과, 유소년 인구(유소년 인구 비중, 유소년 부양비)는 특광역시보다 도에서 더 부정적인 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 광주와 전남의 차이를 살펴보기 위해 광주 더미와 전남 더미를 추가하여 분석한 결과, 노인 인구(노인 인구 비중, 노인 부양비)가 지역경제 성장률에 미치는 영향은 다른 시도와 달리 부정적인 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This study establishes a regional economic growth function based on the production function approach by the Neo-Classical School to analyze the effect of demographic structure on the local economy. In particular, it analyzes the effect of the youth and elderly populations on the local economy. The proportion of the youth population, the proportion of the elderly population, and the youth dependency ratio and elderly dependency ratio are used as explanatory variables. The analysis results show that the youth population(the proportion of the youth population, the youth dependency ratio) has a negative effect on the growth rate of the local economy. Furthermore, additional analysis to examine the difference between metropolitan cities and provinces in these economic effects show that the youth population is more negative in provinces than in metropolitan cities. Finally, analysis of the difference between Gwangju and Jeollanam-do shows the negative effect of the elderly population(the proportion of the elderly population, elderly support expenses) on the regional economic growth rate.
