초록

Since taking office in 2021, President Biden has enacted the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the CH IPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act, establishing a so-called "Bidenomics" policy to encourage companies to invest in manufacturing such as semiconductors and electric vehicles. In addition, President Biden is making great efforts to highlight Bidenomics in his 2024 presidential campaign. This article statistically examined how the Bidenomics investment plans affected the Democratic candidates’ vote shares in the 2022 US midterm elections. The analysis showed that this economic voting effect varied depending on the difference in the political environment of the House districts where the investment was made, but overall, the investment plans based on Bidenomics had a positive effect on the Democratic candidates’ vote shares. In particular, the CHIPS and Science Act had a large impact on improving the Democratic candidates’ vote shares, especially in swing districts.
