이 논문은 가공자본의 형성과 가공자본이 만들어내는 자산 거품을 통해 최근의 세계 금융위기를 분석하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 미국 주택 시장의 위기가 신자유주의적 자본주의의 지속적인 모순들의 일부이며 또한 쉽게 해결될 수 없다는 점을 주장한다. 더 나아가 이 논문은 최근의 위기가 세계화폐로서 달러의 역할을 약화시키고 있음을 지적할 뿐 아니라 그 결과 나타나는 미국의 제국주의적 능력에 대한 실질적인 난관을 설명한다. 이 논문은 최근의 위기가 국제 좌파들에게 제기하는 도전들을 살펴보는 것으로 끝마치고 있다.
Abstract
This article analyzes the current world financial crisis in terms of the formation of fictitious capitals and the asset bubbles they generate. It argues that the crisis in the US housing market is part of persistent contradictions of neoliberal capitalism and will not easily be resolved. The paper further argues that the current crisis also weakens the dollar’s role as world money. As a result, it poses real dilemmas for the imperial capacities of the American state. The article concludes by looking at the challenges the crisis poses for the international left.
