이 논문은 2006년 하반기 서브프라임 모기지 사태로 발발한 세계 경제 위기의 원인, 전개 과정과 향후 전망을 분석한다. 우선 이 논문은 이번 위기의 원인과 관련해서 금융 중심적 견해를 넘어서서 보다 포괄적인 미국 경제의 구조적 모순, 특히 1990년대 호황이 양산한 모순에 주목해서 위기의 성격을 해명한다. 또한 이 논문은 위기의 전개 과정을 서브프라임 모기지 사태의 발발, 금융 시장으로 전이, 연준의 개입과 위기의 심화로 나눠서 설명한다. 마지막으로 이 논문은 이번 위기가 세계 금융 시장의 불안정성을 심화시키고 미국의 경기 침체뿐만 아니라 세계 경제의 동반 침체를 야기하고 있으며 향후 위기가 장기화될 것이라고 예상한다.
Abstract
This paper analyzes the cause and the development of the situation of subprime mortgage debacle through more comprehensive systematic contradictions of development of US economy rather than finance-centred views. It argues that the crisis in the U.S. housing market is explosion of systematic contradictions of development of US economy since the 1990s. As a result, the crisis is deepening instability of financial market and is bringing about severe recession in the U.S economy and global economy. The paper further argues that the current crisis will not easily be resolved.
