Abstract

This article attempts to criticize patriarchal system of production and work as a part of building a theory of patriarchal system. It surveys two previous theories of patriarchy: first, that production-work of patriarchy is separate from that of capitalism, and second that patriarchal production is a form of reproduction. This article maintains that these two positions have some limitations: the first does not explain the relationship between patriarchal and capitalist production and the second does not see the patriarchal production as production. This article suggests a new theory of ‘the patriarchal system-regime’ which criticizes the capitalist-imperialistic-militaristic sex-gender-sexuality complex. This article consists of four steps: building a new theory of patriarchal system-regime, criticizing patriarchal production-work, criticizing capitalist production-work as a historical stage of the patriarchal system-regime, and suggesting alternative production-work. The (capitalist) patriarchal productionwork is the outcome of the exploitation of women and nature. It suggests that the present capitalist production of goods is part of patriarchal production. And the production of goods is one of four different productions: human beings, pleasure, households, and commodities. The aim of building a new theory of patriarchal system-regime is to overcome capitalist-patriarchal productionwork and to move towards an alternative red-green-purple production-work.
