Abstract
This paper purports to critically review feminist political economic theories on the ways in which neo-liberal globalization intensifies contradictions between capital accumulation and social reproduction and discuss implications for crisis in social reproduction in South Korea. Conventional political economy on globalization has focused on power relations and production and interplays between the state and the market. This approach ignores how the reproduction and the family shapes the social reproduction in the course of transformations of social processes, mechanisms, and institutions. In this paper,I review the concepts and theories relevant to social reproduction from the feminist political economic point of view, and concrete examples of neo-liberal globalization intensifies the contradiction between capital accumulation and social reproduction, both in the process of economic restructuring and in the context of new constitutionalism.
