As the material used in history for learning Chinese in the field of economics and trade, Lao‐Qi‐Da was featured as a business guide. Its core topic was about business, which indicated the following writing principles: based on learners’ specific needs; emphasizing on pragmatic uses; and its combination of the cultural items with the linguistic communicative functions. Learners of this book would master the communicative skills for business Chinese, have a basic knowledge for trade, and learn plenty of commercial and cultural information. It helps the people to know the business man more and set the similar surrounding for them. The ideas of this book, Lao‐Qi‐Da, provide an excellent source for reference for teaching and material designing for business Chinese to non‐native speakers in today’s context.
