본 논문은 무선 LAN의 활성화와 더불어 대두되고 있는 무선 LAN과 이동통신망의 연동문제와 이를 구현하기 위해 필요한 고려사항 및 구현 방안들을 살펴본다. 먼저 무선 LAN과 셀룰러 망을 비교 분석하였다. 데이터 전송속도와 커버리지 등에서 상호 보완관계에 있는 무선 LAN과 이동통신망의 비교 분석을 통하여 상호연동의 필요성과 효과를 제시한다. 그리고 무선 LAN과 셀룰러 망간의 연동 서비스를 제공하기 위한 단말 측면의 이슈 및 발전방향을 나타내며, 이종망간의 연동 서비스를 위한 엑세스 및 코어 네트워크의 구조를 제시하였다. 또한 연동 서비스를 구현하기 위한 Mobile IP, VPN 등 다양한 방안의 장단점을 파악하고 특히, Mobile IP를 이용하여 무선 LAN과 셀룰러 망간의 연동 서비스를 제공하기 위한 단말 및 네트워크 부분에서의 구현방안 및 고려사항을 제시한다.
Abstract
This paper describes the roaming problems and implementation methods between cellular network and WLAN which is boomed up recently. First of all, through comparison of the cellular features with WLAN features, we represent the necessity and effect of roaming between cellular and WLAN which are cooperative mutually. Then, we identify issues and developing status related to terminals such as PDA. Also, we propose the architecture of core and access network for providing roaming service. This paper indicates the merits and demerits of various methods as like mobile IP, VPN, which are implemented to provide roaming service. This paper focuses on the implementation of mobile IP method which can provide roaming service effectively.
