본 논문에서는 차세대 무선 LAN 관련 표준화 동향과 차세대 무선 LAN 시스템에 적용될 수 있는 다양한 전송기술을 소개한다. 먼저 WNG SC, RRM SG, HT SG 등 차세대 무선 LAN과 관련한 IEEE 802.11 WG에서의 표준화 동향을 살펴보고, 다음으로 OFDM을 위한 적응 변조 방식, 즉 adaptive OFDM을 소개한 후, 다중안테나(MIMO) 기술과 OFDM을 결합한 다양한 MIMO-OFDM 기술, 즉 ST(F)C-OFDM, SDM/OFDM, OFDM/SDMA, 그리고 이러한 기술의 혼합형인 hybrid SDM/STC-OFDM, adaptive SDM/OFDM 등을 설명한다. 이러한 기술들은 차세대무선 LAN 표준에 적용되어 무선 LAN 용량 증대 및 커버리지 확대에 기여할 것으로 예상된다.
Abstract
In this paper, we introduce the current activities for the next generation wireless LAN and discuss transmission technologies for the next generation wireless LAN systems. First, we introduce the current activities of WNG SC, RRM SG, HT SG in IEEE 802.11 WG, which relate to the next generation wireless LAN standardization. After summarizing the adaptive modulation scheme for OFDM, we introduce several MIMOOFDM techniques, such as ST(F)C (Space-Time (-Frequency) Coding), SDM (Space Division Multiplexing) and SDMA. Moreover, hybrid SDM/STC-OFDM and adaptive SDM/OFDM are described. These techniques will be adopted as the next generation wireless LAN standard to enhance the system capacity and coverage.
