사립대학 팽창 과정 탐색： 해방 후 농지개혁기를 중심으로

해방 이후 농지개혁기간에 우리 사회의 대학교육은 급속도로 팽창하였다. 당시 개인에 의하여 설립된 사립대학의 경우, 상당수의 대학이 농지개혁의 영향으로 적지 않은 토지를 기부 받아 재단을 설립하거나 학교재정을 충당한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 그리고 이들 대학의 운영은 상당기간 동안 설립자와 그 가족들에 의해 이루어졌다. 이러한 현상은 우리나라 고등교육의 현실을 중대하게 규정하여 왔다. 고등교육의 질 저하나 사학비리 문제 등이 그러한 현실의 한 단면이다. 현재 우리나라 사립대학들이 갖고 있는 문제는 근래에 새롭게 나타나고 있는 문제로 이해하기보다는 사립대학의 형성에서부터 누적된 것으로 이해하여야 할 것이다. 이 논문은 해방 후 농지개혁기 동안의 농지개혁법의 실시와 지주의 대응이 급격한 사립대학 팽창의 한 요인으로 작용하였음을 설명하고 있다.
Abstract
After the liberation, university education has expanded rapidly in Korea. Many private universities, which were founded by individual, were established and supported financially by privately endowed land. This was possible due to the land reform at that time. And this has caused private universities to be managed by its own founder and family members. This phenomena has affected significantly to our educational situation which provoked deterioration of higher education and corruption in private schools. This study has reasoned those phenomena with actual evidences.
