본 연구의 목적은 초보상담자가 상담에서 어떤 어려움을 경험하는지를 간편하고 신뢰롭게 측정할 수 있는 도구를 개발하는 것이다. 이를 위해 초보상담자 7명을 대상으로 상담 중 경험하는 어려움에 대한 인터뷰 를 실시하였으며, 이 자료와 초보상담자의 어려움을 질적으로 분석한 자료(김길문, 2003)를 바탕으로 194개 의 문항을 만들고, 주제별 범주화 작업과 예비조사를 통해 117문항을 선발하였다. 그 다음 이 예비 문항들 의 요인구조 및 신뢰도를 확인하기 위하여, 상담경력이 3년 이하인 초보상담자 159명으로부터 자료를 수 집하여 요인분석과 신뢰도 분석을 하였다. 이 과정에서 요인부하량이 낮거나 둘 이상의 요인에 포함되는 문항, 문항-총점 상관이 낮은 문항은 제외하고 최종적으로 47문항을 선정하였다. 이 질문지는 상담에 대한 부정적 내적반응, 내담자 특성, 내담자 이해와 공감, 상담자 특성, 사례개입방법이라는 5개 요인으로 구성 되었으며, 신뢰도 분석 결과 각 요인의 내적 합치도(Cronbach's α)는 .76-.91로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 개발된 문항은 초보상담자의 어려움을 통합적으로 요약, 정리하여 객관적이고 양적인 측정을 가능하게 하였다. 추 후 확인적 요인분석과 타당화를 통해 다양한 양적 연구에 사용할 수 있고 상담자교육과 수퍼비전에도 유 용하게 사용할 수 있을 것이다. 이런 연구의 의의와 함께, 본 연구의 제한점 및 후속 연구를 위한 시사점 등을 논의하였다.
Abstract
This article reports the development of the scale of Novice Therapists' Difficulty experienced in Counseling. Based on the interviews with 7 novice therapists and qualitative data on novice therapists' difficulty from literature review, 194-item scale was constructed. Through the pilot study, 117 items were extracted. Then, 117-item scale was administered to 159 novice therapists who have less than 3-year counseling experience in order to examine the factor structure and reliability of the scale. Factor analysis revealed the emergence of a 47-item scale with 5 factors: Negative internal reactions to counseling, client's characteristics, understanding and empathy to client, therapists' characteristics, intervention strategies. Internal consistency (Cronbach's α) of all the final five factors were in the range of .76 to .91. This study is meaningful in quantifying novice therapists' difficulties. Implications for supervision with novice therapists, limitation of this study and suggestions for future research are discussed.
