국제결혼 이주여성의 자녀교육지원을 위한 핵심역량 현황 및 인식

본 연구는 국제결혼 이주여성들의 자녀교육지원을 위해 필요한 역량이 무엇인지 알아보고 현재 그들의 역량 상태를 진단하며, 역량상태에 대한 본인들의 인식은 어떠한지, 앞으로 국제결혼 이주여성들의 자녀교육지원을 위한 역량계발을 제고할 수 있는 방법이 무엇인지를 탐색하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 다문화 교육이나 연구를 수행한 경험이 많은 학자, 교사를 포함한 현장 전문가 및 국제결혼 이주여성 등을 대상으로 델파이 조사를 실시하였고, 다문화가정 학생과 그 부모, 담임교사 및 다문화 교육기관 담당 교사들을 대상으로 설문조사 및 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 한국어능력, 자녀양육지도능력, 관계형성능력, 정보활용능력이 국제결혼 이주여성의 자녀교육지원을 위한 핵심역량으로 파악되었다. 또한 자녀교육지원을 위한 역량 수준은 이주여성의 거주기간과 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 한국어 능력에 있어 중국출신 어머니들이 다른 국가 출신 어머니들 보다 능력이 높았다. 또한 자녀양육지도능력에 있어 일본 출신 어머니들의 능력이 높았으며, 학력에 따라서는 고졸이나 대졸이상의 학력을 가진 어머니가 중졸이하의 학력을 지닌 어머니 보다 교육지원 역량이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 국제결혼 이주여성의 자녀교육지원 역량에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위해 심층면담을 실시한 결과, 이들은 자신들의 자녀교육지원 역량 수준이 낮다고 생각하고 있었으며 한국어 능력에 대해 걱정을 많이 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대부분의 이주여성은 임신 ․ 출산 · 양육을 포함한 자녀교육을 위한 정보 부족을 걱정하고 있었으며, 사회 및 교육에 대한 적응의 어려움으로 낮은 자아존중감을 가지고 있었다. 또한 역량 계발을 위한 필요성 및 요구를 가지고 이에 대해 노력하는 모습을 나타내었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the core competencies of female immigrants in international marriages in supporting their children's education and to investigate the status of their competency and their perceptions of it. Additionally, this research explores the methods used to develop their core competency. For these purposes, researchers conducted a two-round Delphi survey of multicultural education experts, as well as surveys of and interviews with female immigrants, their children and their teachers. The results indicated that the core competencies for supporting child education were Korean language ability, parenting skills, relationship-building ability, and collecting and utilizing information for educating children. In addition, female immigrants in international marriages evaluated their competency status as low and had low self-esteem because of the difficulty they experienced in adapting to this society. They were concerned about their Korean ability and insufficient information for educating their children. Subsequently, they showed efforts to overcome these difficulties and to develop their competencies.
