이 연구는 '푸른코끼리' 사이버폭력 예방교육 프로그램의 효과를 초등학생과 교사의 경험을 통해 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 교육에 참여한 학생과 교사를 대상으로 면담을 실시하고, 질적 분석을 통해 교육 경험의 의미와 변화 양상을 심층적으로 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 학생들은 사이버폭력에 대한 인식의 변화, 일상에 대한 반성과 달라져야겠다고 다짐하게 된 태도의 변화, 폭력 상황에서 말리려고 하는 행동의 변화 등 전인적 변화 과정이 인식되었다. 둘째, 교사들은 교육 내용을 토대로 학생 지도에 도움이 되는 것으로 인식하였으며, 학생들의 교육 효과가 점진적으로 나타날 것이라 기대하였다. 셋째, 사이버폭력 예방교육은 가해학생 행동을 변화시키는 데는 한계가 있었고, 학년과 교사에 따라 교육 효과의 차이가 발생할 수 있음이 보고되었다. 넷째, 교육 효과의 지속을 위해 학부모의 관심과 참여, 교사의 지속적 교육 내용 상기 및 추후 교육을 이어가는 역할의 필요성이 제기되었다. 이 연구는 '푸른코끼리' 친사회적 역량 기반 사이버폭력 예방교육의 효과와 한계를 초등학생과 교사의 관점에서 다면적으로 탐색하였으며, 장기적인 후속 연구의 필요성을 강조함으로써 향후 예방 교육의 개선에 기여한다.
Abstract
Purpose: This study explores the effectiveness of the Blue Elephant cyberbullying prevention program based on prosocial competencies among elementary school students and teachers. Findings: The findings indicate the following: (1) Students reported perceived holistic changes, including heightened awareness of cyberbullying, reflection on daily behaviors, intentions to change, and attempts to intervene in violent situations. (2) Teachers perceived the program as a useful tool for student guidance and anticipated gradual improvements over time. (3) The program’s immediate impact on eliminating aggressive behaviors was perceived as limited, with effectiveness varying across student grade levels and teacher groups. (4) Parental involvement and ongoing reinforcement by teachers were identified as essential factors for sustaining the program’s effects. Value: Overall, this study provides multi-perspective insights from elementary students and teachers regarding the benefits and limitations of the Blue Elephant prosocial competency–based cyberbullying prevention program. The findings suggest the need for long-term follow-up to examine the program’s sustained impact and provide valuable implications for improving future prevention education.
