Abstract

Within the new international security environment in the post-Cold War, the United States might like to build and develop its unilateral military capabilities to protect American national interests globally extended. At the same time, the United States is de facto trying to set in place a new regional networking strategy. The Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) is an American concept that frames a debate about these security problems and is a military security strategy to effectively cope with new international security environment for the sake of the United States. The main purpose of this article is to articulate the political and military implications of RMA on America's alliances and alliances' force structure. For this purpose, this article examines NATO's Defense Capability Initiatives (DCI) as a case study. Finally, this article makes some suggestions for developing a South Korean model of RMA.
