한국어 배치고사 개발 사례 연구 －연세대학교 한국어학당의 배치고사를 중심으로－

The present study is a reconstruction of the Korean Language Institute's recently developed placement test from the perspective of the study of Korean as a foreign language, including the process of the test's development, the principles of development, the test's main components, and item types. The study makes the following claims. (1) It is important to measure proficiency with the characteristics of the curriculum and syllabus of the educational institution amply reflected in the placement test. Test areas, categories, items, and the item writing of the test, and principles of scoring must be made to reflect these things. (2) Topics, tasks and functions, vocabularies, contents and context, text type, and grammars must be graded by level to allow for placement test development. This requires agreement between generally accepted proficiency levels and the institution's curriculum. (3) There must be development of the right question types and scoring principles. There particularly must be development of items that can measure communicative competence according to each skill and grade level, and there must be ample balance between open and closed item types. Very little research on placement tests has been done in Korean education. It is our hope that this study will provide an example for future studies research in the development of Korean placement tests. (Yonsei University)
